As a child I was always more into sports/activities that put my individual strengths to the test like rock climbing, sprinting and martial arts. Through college I worked out in traditional ways and was hired for the Seattle Fire Department in January, 2000. I realized that my “fitness” only went so far and was severely lacking. After watching my wife run several races, in 2002 I started running longer distance that, like most people, turned into half marathons, marathons and one ultra. In 2003 I completed my first triathlon and soon found myself running and riding more than ever. Each year consisted of 100-mile rides, 2-day fun rides (that of course we always raced) and lots of running. Training was easy. All I had to do was show up for whatever my wife was doing and join the fun. After a couple years of racing sprint distance to half-ironman triathlons, I decided it was time to take a hiatus. In January 2006 I found CrossFit, and it quickly filled my desire for intense training. I became a certified CrossFit trainer, opened my own CrossFit affiliate gym (CrossFit Lake Tapps) and became a USA Weightlifting coach. The summer of 2009 brought two more half-ironman races and the formation of the CrossFit Lake Tapps USA Weightlifting Club. I am excited to be a member of KBA Racing, watch its growth and race for the team.
