I've been running for 34+ years (about 20 years competitively). My first marathon in 1980 at age 12 was in 3:33:56!! I have competed in distances from 100 yards to 50 miles. I've been biking most of my life. Mostly for pleasure or a mode of transportation. I raced mountain bikes during college (87 – 96), ventured further and have done 24 hr solo mountain bike racing. I competed in swimming when I was about 4 years old through 12 years (I liked running more). I held many age group records for fly and free in Mission Viejo, California. Swimming is like an old friend, something I missed but have not forgotten.
After an 8 year absence in triathlons, I’m back and will be taking it to the next level! I’ve learned more about myself through ultra running and pacing others at ultra’s. I have a huge advantage against my competitors.
My triathlon history:
Did a few tri’s in the late 80’s during high school. Started again in 1998 with a few Olympics and Sprints then in 2001 did my first ½ iron distance.
Fast forward to 2009, found the tri bug again!
Entered 1 Olympic and two ½ iron distance tri’s. Found my starting point, know where I need to be to perform at the level I want.
Getting back into the sport has been quite exciting, most of the gear and bikes have changed. Technology and gear are great but without a properly trained human the race is just training.
