I have an addiction, yes, it's true, I absolutely love triathlon! I love everything about the sport; the training, the comradery of fellow athletes, the joy, the pain, the challenge of swimming in a freezing cold lake or riding my bike in the snow, and the rush of standing on the podium being rewarded for the heart and soul I put into triathlon.

It all started in 1999. After I graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Early Childhood/Special Education, I needed something else to focus on. I decided to start training for the Seattle Half Marathon. Once I achieved that goal I continued challenging myself. The following year I completed my first marathon and five years later competed in Ironman Canada. I have conquered close to 30 marathons (Marathon Maniac #437) and countless triathlons: favorites being Olympic and Half Ironman distance. My skills in triathlon have brought me numerous podium spots. The most memorable for the 2009 race season was the Chelan Man Half Ironman where I came in first woman and set the new course record for women. In 2009 I received the Title of All-American Triathlete in placing in the top percentages in my races.

My certifications include: AFFA – CPT Personal Trainer, DotFit Coach, Level III USA Certified Cycle Coach, Group Cycle Instructor, Total Body Circuit (Bootcamp) instructor, PiYo Instructor, and a Personal Trainer for Heart Rate Threshold. This is just the beginning for me! I am working toward more certifications and continuously educate myself with the latest research through classes, on-line courses, and current publications.

I'll leave you with a phrase I believe encompasses who I am and people I train with. "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired and success achieved." That's a pretty good mantra to live by."
